Originally platted back in 1979 by Rex Keller, the development was marketed as a rural retirement community. Tom and Rose Washburn, the visionaries and founders of Indian Hills Development Company, spearheaded the creation of Indian Hills Estates with a clear vision for excellence and community-driven design. To say the least, the project had a slow start with only selling 24 lots and homes by 1986.

When Tom and Rose bought Units 2-5, they had their work cut out for him. Tom was a fan of affordable luxury, providing a community where affordability was a key driver to growth. Shortly after taking over and spearheading Units 2-5, Indian Hills Estates saw a boom. All lots in Unit 1-5 were completely sold by 2001 with Tom and Rose developing Unit 6, 120 more 1/4 acre lots that were completely sold out by late 2007.
